It all started because my mama heart wanted more time with my family, and to make that happen, customers needed to be able to easily enroll by themselves.
You see, after four years with dōTERRA, I hit a roadblock: I was raising three small kids under age 4, and my husband worked long hours commuting into NYC. Running my business and taking care of my home left me beyond exhausted. My enrollment rate was high, but I was spending too much time enrolling customers myself. You know what I mean - we do it ourselves because if we don’t, they’ll end up on the dōTERRA orphan tree (am I right?).
With Black Friday close at hand, I came across a blog that said more and more people were choosing to shop online instead of in person. Yup, that seemed about right. After all, I thought, I'm an Amazon Prime mom; I order everything online.
I decided to put this theory to the test. Three friends reached out to me, ready to buy their dōTERRA kits. Instead of getting their information myself and walking through the enrollment process step-by-step via phone, I directed them to mydoterra for what I hoped would be a quick, user-friendly shopping experience.
The next day I checked in, and guess what? Not a single person had enrolled. When I followed up, they said the site was too confusing for them to order. And then I heard these dreaded, gut-wrenching words: "maybe it’s just not meant to be right now.” Did I really just watch my friends miss out because of the web link I gave them?
Something needed to change, and I’m not the type to wait for someone else to make it happen! I spent the next 6 weeks designing my own website, now known as Practical Website Design. I took into consideration all of my previous sales training as well as the knowledge and experience I had as a dōTERRA Wellness Advocate leader and Certified Aromatherapist.
I then went back to one of those three friends who had expressed interest in ordering. I asked her to check out my new site and provide honest feedback, and thankfully she agreed. Then, the most amazing thing happened: within the hour, she called me back and told me she loved the new site, it was super easy to navigate, and she had just ordered a kit!
Not long after that, three more friends expressed interest in ordering kits. I was out on a date with my husband, so I shot them this text: Great, here's the link to my new website. Go to Starter Kits, pick your favorite, and check out.
By the time we returned home, all three people had enrolled by themselves!
During this time, we were participating in a Daniel Fast with our church. As we prayed for breakthrough, the idea occurred to me to start a company called Practical Website Design with the purpose of designing websites for other dōTERRA Wellness Advocates. After all, I knew many dōTERRA leaders who wanted to have more time with their families. I had created a tool that would help them do just that!
I started by designing websites for just a few people on my team. Once they began using their websites and seeing results, word spread quickly. Today, PWD has grown to a team of 10 people serving about 700 clients ranking from Managers through Presidential Diamonds in the USA, Canada, Australia, Europe, and Spanish Speaking Markets.
We've gained our time back; we’re seeing our families more; and people are enrolling themselves confidently. We would love to help you do the same.
